Diploma in Bench Joinery

This course consists of both practical and theoretical work.
Core Units include health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries, understanding information, quantities and communication with others. Other options include: setting up and operating cutting and shaping machinery, producing setting out details and marking out for routine joinery products and manufacturing routine joinery products.

Entry Requirements

2 Years - 4 GCSE's at grade 2 or equivalent Level 1 / Entry 3 qualification.
Real interest and commitment are essential.

What do I need to bring?

Safety Footwear, Tape Measure, Ruler, Pens, Pencils (for classroom and workshop), Pencil Sharpener, A4 Ring Binder, A4 Lined Refill Pad, Calculator (mobile phones are not acceptable).

Assessment/Exam information

Assessment will consist of practical observations, multiple choice and job related knowledge tests. All assessments must be completed by an approved assessor.

What can I do next?

In the Summer term of the course, if you are offered a work placement then you can continue at college working towards an NVQ Level 2 on an Apprenticeship programme.

On completion of this course you will gain the following qualification: Level 2 Diploma in Wood Occupations, Carpentry or Joinery.
