Level 3 Apprenticeship in Business Administration

This course is suitable for people employed in administration roles in various businesses.

Students will be required to complete between 12 and 14 different units within the qualification.
This consists of 5 mandatory units which are:
• Communicate in a business environment
• Principles of administration
• Principles of business communication and information
• Principles of business
• Manage personal and professional development

You will also need to do a further 7 to 9 optional units which could include:
• Negotiate in a business environment
• Develop or monitor information systems
• Manage an office facility
• IT software such as word processing, spreadsheets, email (advanced level)
• Chair and lead meetings
• Implement change
• Participate in a project

The most appropriate units will be selected with the support and guidance of the assessor to ensure they are aligned with the type of work undertaken.

Entry Requirements

The Apprenticeship is open to those aged 16+ in suitable employment who hold GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above in English and Maths.

For exams taken 2017 onwards you will need GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 5 or above in English and Maths.

Assessment/Exam information

The Level 3 Apprenticeship will be delivered through a combination of:
• A range of work based assessment methods such as observations, work product, questions and answers and witness testimony.
• Assessors will visit on a 3 weekly basis to facilitate progress and conduct assessments.
• Regular work-based reviews to ensure progression and support – these will be conducted by a Training Co-ordinator or Assessor.

*Students who require more in depth learning for Functional Skills will attend a block week of learning at Swindon College.

Progression
The Advanced Apprenticeship provides good grounding for the Foundation Degree in Administration and Business Technology or other Foundation Degrees.
It will also enhance future job opportunities as the qualifications gained are formally recognised by those in the industry.

This course is based at North Star where you will receive expert tuition from well qualified and experienced staff. Also, a Training Coordinator will support you throughout your training, through regular work based review meetings.
