GCSE Biology

This course is intended for students of all ages who wish to achieve a Science GCSE in one year. It is an intensive course requiring commitment, hard work and a further one to two hours each week for studying and homework, in addition to weekly classes. The course follows the AQA Biology syllabus, which involves theory and practical activities as well as exams. Classes are around 3 hours long and run for around 33 weeks. We are only offering an evening class at the moment so that students who have shift work or family commitments can attend. The cost of the course depends on the student’s age and previous qualifications.

No formal entry requirements, although students would have to demonstrate the ability to cope with this level of course.

Pen, ruler, pencil and paper

Assessment/Exam information

There are two exams which take place in May/start of June. There are also some practical activities which have to be completed as part of the course. All the components must be completed to achieve a Biology GCSE.

Swindon College offers a friendly and relaxed learning atmosphere, with highly qualified staff delivering a successful course. Students have access to the many learning facilities that the College offers, including extensive library resources and internet access.

What can I do next?

By gaining this qualification you could progress onto a number of different vocational courses or onto Level 3 Science course. A GCSE in Science is also a requirement of some employers.
