L3 Award in Paediatric First Aid

This 2 day course is suitable for any person working with children from birth up to the age of puberty. Content of course:

Unit 1
Responsibilities and Reporting, Resuscitation, Anaphylaxis, Dealing with an Unresponsive Casualty, Wounds and Bleeding, Shock, Assessment of the Situation, Minor Injuries, Epilepsy, First Aid Equipment, Infection Control, Choking, Recovery Position.

Unit 2
Head Injuries, Sickle Cell Anaemia, Asthma, Fractures and Spinal Injuries, Diabetes, Heat and Cold, Febrile Convulsions, Foreign Bodies, Bites and Stings, Ear, Nose and Throat Injuries, Burns and Scalds, Poisoning, Electrical injuries, Meningitis.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, just an interest or requirement for First Aid training. Level 2 English is advisable.

What do I need to bring?

Wear suitable clothing - you will be kneeling down! Pen and notebook. You will need to bring Photographic ID, e.g. Passport /Driving Licence for the assessment.

Assessment/Exam information

At the end of the course the learner will hold a recognised qualification that last for 3 years. It is however recommended that learners attend yearly updates.
