Level 3 Extended Diploma in Production Arts (QCF) (Media Make-Up)

Having built your skills in the first year of study, you will now be supported to develop and apply these skills to a wide range of vocational scenarios. Working directly with models and performers you will create a portfolio of individual creative work that will support your progression into further education and training or into the workplace.

Entry Requirements

A minimum of four GCSE's at Grade 4 or above including a minimum of a 4 grade in GCSE English and maths or a relevant Level 2 BTEC qualification. All students will be required to present a portfolio of work at interview.

What do I need to bring?

All students will need to come to college with the equipment and materials needed from their kit.

Assessment/Exam information

The course is assessed by a variety of methods including: projects, assignments, presentations and course work; all of which are internally moderated, as well as being verified by an external examiner to maintain national quality and standards.

All work is graded using a scale of Pass, Merit and Distinction. The course is unit based and presents continuous assessment opportunities, as opposed to a final examination; therefore, your progress can be accurately tracked and assessed throughout the entire programme, offering you the opportunity to improve your grades.

Other information

Any student who has not previously achieved a grade C in GCSE English or Maths will be required to study towards this qualification as part of their programme of study.

During the course students develop a range of transferable skills, which play an essential role in developing personal effectiveness for adult and working life and in the application of specific vocational skills.

What can I do next?

We offer a wide range of university-level courses in Art, Design and Media and many students choose to progress with us. You could progress onto the HND in Production Arts (Media Make-Up), the Foundation Degree in Creative Arts and Design Practice or other related courses within the Swindon College School of Art.

Alternatively you could progress to a wide variety of HE courses offered by Universities both Nationally and Internationally.

Qualification description

Students who complete this course will be awarded a BTEC National Extended Diploma in Production Arts which is a fully recognised national qualification.

All students will be charged a Equipment fees of £500in the first year and £300 in second year. For this, students will be issued with the equipment and materials required to undertake the course . Other costs may be incurred in the production of project work.
