BTEC National First Extended Certificate in Creative Digital Media Production

Develop an understanding of the media industry through analysing, pitching and producing media products. As well as exploring and experimenting with a variety of media products, you will learn to problem solve, organise, plan tasks and make decisions on a range of creative briefs.

Entry Requirements

2 Years - 4 GCSEs at grade 2 or equivalent Level 1 / Entry 3 qualification.
1 Year - 3 GCSEs at grade 3 or equivalent Level 1/2 qualification.
A portfolio of work.

Assessment/Exam information

The course is assessed by a variety of methods including: projects, assignments, presentations and course work; Some of these are internally assessed whilst others will be externally assessed via exams or external tasks. All assessment is verified by an external examiner to maintain national quality and standards.

All work is graded using a scale of Pass, Merit and Distinction. The course is unit based and presents continuous assessment opportunities, as opposed to a final examination; therefore, your progress can be accurately tracked and assessed throughout the entire programme, offering you the opportunity to improve your grades.

Other information

Any student who has not previously achieved a grade 4 in GCSE English or Maths will be required to study towards this qualification as part of their programme of study.

During the course students develop a range of transferable skills, which play an essential role in developing personal effectiveness for adult and working life and in the application of specific vocational skills.

What can I do next?

Level 3 Extended Diploma in Media Production, Art & Design or Computing. Alternatively, the course will help you build the skills you need to enter employment.
