HND/HNC Performing Arts (Production) Media Make-up

Students can go into roles requiring make-up artistry within retail, commercial and theatrical settings. Students may work with stage, film and television to produce make-up hair and prosthetics suitable for a variety of genres. Opportunities for employment may also include fashion, make-up and hair, fantasy and character creation, within events, marketing and promotion or advertising roles.

Entry Requirements

You need to have at least one of the following Level 3 qualifications:

-Diploma in Foundation Studies (Art & Design)
-Access to Art & Design
-National Extended Diploma in Art & Design
-Two A Levels at Grade C or above in appropriate subjects
-Five GCSEs grade C or above, including English.

Equivalent Level 3 qualifications will also be considered (equivalent qualifications should be worth a minimum of 120 UCAS points).

Swindon College welcomes mature applicants who do not meet the academic entry requirements, who have a genuine wish to succeed and can provide evidence of relevant work-related experience. All applicants are required to attend an interview where they will be expected to bring a portfolio of project work.

What do I need to bring?

All students will be supplied with a professional Media Make-Up kit, which will include the equipment and materials required to undertake the course.

Assessment/Exam information

Students must achieve a minimum of 120 credits (of which at least 65 must be at level 4) on their programme of learning to be awarded a BTEC Level 4 HNC and a minimum of 240 credits (of which at least 125 must be at level 5 or above) to be awarded a BTEC Level 5 HND.

The assessment of BTEC Higher National qualifications is criterion-referenced and evidence must be made against published learning outcomes and assessment criteria.

Other information

This course is designed as a two year programme where you will achieve a HNC qualification in your first year and then top this up to a HND qualification in your second year. Throughout the course you will develop a range of skills including:
