Level 3 Diploma in Massage Therapies

This course is designed for those who wish to train for a career in the art of body therapies. The course will include the origins of massage, personal health and Well Being, Body massage, Indian head massage, Pre- blended aromatherapy and Stone therapy massage. Alongside Health and Safety, anatomy, physiology and functional skills you will also be given the opportunity to complete the Award in Advanced Waxing.

Entry Requirements

Level 3 requires Level 2 Beauty Therapy and a successful interview. Students should be 16 years of age or older with a good level of education. To succeed as a beauty therapist you must have good interpersonal skills, enthusiasm and commitment. Your main aim will be to help people so you must enjoy working with the public, be a good listener, have the ability to put people at their ease and, finally, be prepared for hard work. You must be honest, but at the same time tactful, so that clients always feel better going out than when they came in.

You could be entitled to have your fees waived if you are aged 19-23 and do not have a full level 3 qualification or you are aged 24+ and unemployed. What do I need to bring?

Clients/models will be required for you to practice and treat during sessions
Students should be prepared to find and gather their own models. However ,the college will suport and help to find models.The college has a booking system that all models and clients must use.

Assessment/Exam information

Continual assessment forms the basis of this course. Students will be tested regularly throughout the year, usually on a module or subject basis. This helps to build up a portfolio of evidence to prove competence and a full understanding of the underpinning knowledge of the subject.
Practically, students are required to show competence in treating a wide range of clients and to show the ability to analyse the effects of treatments, over a period, through case studies and projects. An acceptable professional level is required in all areas in order to gain certification. Students may also be required to demonstrate their skills during a client session to an external verifier, where staff members are also monitored, for their fairness and accuracy in assessing students. There will also be externally set examinations.

What can I do next?

Students often go on to work in various areas including private practice, beauty clinics, health hydro's, cosmetic houses or aboard cruise liners.
All studnets will be required to work rotas in the commercial salon on other days including a Saturday morning. Thes willbe publishedat the start of the programme.

Qualification description

After completing both years, students should gain a Level 3 in Beauty Therapy. Our qualifications are fully recognised and enabling the students to gain public liability insurance; which is recommended for therapists when working on the public as clients.

There are supplementary costs for equipment, books, course trips and visits of £104 . Financial assistance may be available to cover these costs, please ask a member of staff about the Access Fund.
All students are expected to purchase a uniform and full kit, two weeks before the course starts.
