Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Professional Cookery Yr 1

This course is for people who are employed in the food and hospitality industry and who have the ambition to become trained and skilled chefs. At Level 3 you will study general aspects of catering like Health and Hygiene, Food Safety, Security and Working Relationships. Preparation and cooking units could include: complex meat, fish, sauces and soups, vegetables, dough products, pasta, rice, egg dishes, cakes, sponges and desserts.

Entry Requirements

The Apprenticeship is open to those aged 16+ in suitable employment who hold GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade D in English and maths or L2 NVQ Professional Cookery. (Please note that funding restrictions may apply to students aged 19+. Please contact the Apprenticeship team regarding fees. Apprenticeships are currently not available to those who have a degree, HNC, HND or equivalent L4 or above qualification.

What do I need to bring?

Assessment/Exam information

This is generally done in a realistic working environment at College or can be carried out in the workplace by way of observation and feedback from experienced chefs who are also qualified assessors. The qualification is gained by building up evidence in a portfolio achieved at your own pace whilst at College or in the workplace. You will also complete an ERR logbook.
