HND Sport

This is a specialised level of Sport that will prepare you for an Honours or top-up degree, transfer to apprenticeships or the exciting employment market in one of the UK's most successful sectors.
With opportunities to specialise in a range of areas, the HND will enable you to have a clear line of sight to the career as a Personal Trainer, Sport Management or Coaching.

Entry Requirements

You will be considered for entry with a minimum of 48 UCAS points from any of the specific grade profiles and a successful interview:

• A-levels – CC or DDD (a minimum of a D must be in a subject specific area)
• BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma or BTEC National Diploma – MPP
• BTEC Level 3 Diploma or BTEC National Certificate – MM

NB – other Level 3 qualifications; or a combination from the above will be considered via application (UCAS) and interview. You must have 4 GCSEs at grade A-C including Maths, English and ideally Science or PE (functional skills maybe considered at Level 2 for Maths and English). We fully encourage adult learner applications and they will be considered based on qualifications; industry experience and/or a successful interview.

USB drive (16GB min), file Pen, paper/notebook, suitable sportswear (indoor and outdoor) - you have the opportunity to purchase college branded sportswear (kit supplier tbc)

Assessment/Exam information

Units will be assessed using a variety of assessments methods including written reports/essays; practical training and coaching sessions; presentations using modern technologies; E:portfolio's; video's and visual displays.

The total module credit value is a minimum of 240 as set by Pearson. Swindon College intends to deliver 245 credits across a total of 16 units.

What can I do next?

If you successfully achieve the HND qualification, you will have the opportunity to progress onto a variety of Sport Honours Degree programmes depending on overall and specific unit grades. Progression links will be available with a number of Universities in the South West and across the country to further enhance this option.

Excellent employment opportunities exist in the sport, coaching, health and exercise science industries if you gain the HND and the additional industry qualifications that are provided alongside the main qualification. The ‘Work Based Experience’ and ‘Personal and Professional Development’ units of study will significantly develop and enhance your employability skills.
