Diploma in Sport

Entry Requirements

2 Years - 4 GCSEs at grade 2 or equivalent Level 1 / Entry 3 qualification.
1 Year - 3 GCSEs at grade 3 or equivalent Level 1/2 qualification.

You could be entitled to have your fees waived if you are aged 19-23 and do not have a full level 2 qualification or you are aged 24+ and unemployed. What do I need to bring?

USB drive (16GB min), file Pen, paper/notebook, suitable sportswear (indoor and outdoor) - you have the opportunity to purchase college branded sportswear (kit supplier is O'Neills)

Assessment/Exam information

Units will be assessed using a variety of assessment methods including written reports, practical training and coaching sessions, presentations using modern technologies (e.g. E-portfolios, videos, PowerPoint, prezi) and visual displays. Each unit will be graded Pass, Merit or Distinction which will contribute to an overall double grade profile (e.g. PP, MM, DD). There will be a minimum of three assignments per unit.

This Level 2 programme forms the vocational element of a full-time programme of study. The other elements include:
English, Maths, Tutorials, Work Experience
If you choose our Football or Rugby Academy pathway you will train for between 3-5 hours per week, gain access to football or rugby related qualifications and play fixtures representing the college. You will also undertake player and match analysis activities and visits to nationally recognised centres of sporting excellence.
The Sport pathway will allow you to gain access to a broad range of sport and leisure experience, including the chance to undertake industry recognised qualifications.

What can I do next?

Our Level 2 is designed to lead into our Level 3 Programme and progress through to Level 3 is highly recommended.

Free for 16-18 and other eligible funding categories - subject to status. Students aged 19+ will normally require an advanced learning loan. There is an additional trips and equipment fee of £100 which is payable after enrolment. Financial assistance is available by application and eligibility criteria will be matched against applications. Details are available from Student Services.
