Level 2 Apprenticeship in ITQ

This course is suitable for people employed in IT roles whose responsibility is to use IT applications in support of colleagues or customers in any sector or industry.

The programme consists of two mandatory units for the knowledge element and one mandatory unit and a number of optional units for the competence element. A minimum of 38 credits must be achieved, with the mandatory knowledge units providing 12, the mandatory competence units providing four, leaving a further 22 credits chosen from the optional units.

The most appropriate units will be selected with the support and guidance of the assessor to ensure they are aligned with the type of work undertaken. The choice of units is given below:

Entry Requirements

The Apprenticeship is open to those aged 16+ in suitable employment who hold GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above in English and Maths.

For exams taken 2017 onwards you will need GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 4 or above in English and Maths.

Assessment/Exam information

The assessment of the competence units is via assignments and the examination of work product via Observation and Discussion.

The knowledge units will be assessed via written questions. These assessments will be planned to suit the learner with robust feedback provided on each visit.

Other information

Please note that the start dates for Apprenticeships vary and can be at any time of the year. This course is based at North Star where you will receive expert tuition from well qualified and experienced staff. A Training Coordinator will support you throughout your training, through regular work based review meetings.

What can I do next?

On completion of the Apprenticeship, Apprentices can progress onto the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship for IT Application Specialists.

Qualification description

On the successful completion of the course the student will be awarded an Apprenticeship covering:
• Level 2 Diploma in IT User Skills (ITQ) (QCF)
• Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)
• Functional Skills in English (Level 1)
• Functional Skills in Maths (Level 1)
• Functional Skills in ICT (Level 2)
• Personal Learning & Thinking Skills (PLTS)
