Level 3 Apprenticeship in Supporting Teaching & Learning

This course is ideal for those employed within schools in the role of a Teaching Assistant.

The Certificate is part of the Qualification Credit Framework (QCF). Each unit within the qualification has a credit value. Learners must gain a minimum of 44 credits to achieve the Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools. These credits are achieved through:

• Mandatory units (32 credits)
• Optional Units (12 Credits).

Entry Requirements

The Apprenticeship is open to those aged 16+ in suitable employment who hold GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above in English and Maths.

For exams taken 2017 onwards you will need GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 4 or above in English and Maths.

Applications which do not meet this criteria will be considered on an individual basis.

You will also need to have the interest, enthusiasm and willingness to work hard.

Assessment/Exam information

The majority of assessment for this competence based qualification will take place in the workplace under real work conditions, using observations by a qualified assessor and or professional discussions, work products, witness testimony etc. All the identified assessment criteria must be evidenced and a holistic approach to assessment is encouraged.

This course is based at North Star. During the course you will receive expert tuition from highly trained staff.
A qualified Assessor will be allocated to the learner who will provide an induction and plan with him/her assessments in their work place.
A Training Co-ordinator will support you throughout your training, through regular work based review meetings.

Workshops held will also support the learner in developing their knowledge and understanding particularly with areas such as child development, safeguarding, legislations, regulations and equality and diversity. It also provides the learner an opportunity to network with Teaching Assistants.

What can I do next?

Upon completion of the Advanced Apprenticeship a student may wish to progress to a foundation degree if the relevant criteria are met.
