Diploma in Education and Training

This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to become a teacher or lecturer in the post compulsory education and training sector. Over the two years you will study a variety of units which may include:

* Teaching, learning and assessment in education and training
* Theories, principles and models in education and training
* Inclusive practice
* Developing, using and organising resources in a specialist area
* Developing teaching, learning and assessment in education and training
* Curriculum development for inclusive practice
* Wider professional practice
* Action research

Entry Requirements

This qualification is for individuals who are able to operate in a teaching role in the Education and Skills Sector, this could be on a voluntary basis.

Candidates must hold a Level 3 subject specialism and have access to 50 hours of teaching throughout the year, ideally teaching (on both a one-to-one and group basis) a variety of learners acrosss a range of levels.

Additionally you should hold a Level 2 in English and numeracy or be willing to work towards them and have access to a subject mentor at your setting. You must have Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) Clearance.

What do I need to bring?

Pens, Pencils, Notebook, A4 File bring your own device if you have access to a laptop ot tablet.

Assessment/Exam information

Course completion requires: written assignments, a research diary, presentations, a practical teaching file, three teaching and one mentor support visits and a reflective journal.

Course fees are charged for each year of course.

What can I do next?

On successful completion of year two, with evidence of literacy and numeracy at Level 2 and a subject specialism at Level 3, studetns can apply for QTLS status, which holds a parity of esteem with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
