Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering Technologies (QCF) Yr 1

Offering exciting opportunities in the engineering industry, this course gives you the chance to gain valuable skills and knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of engineering practices and processes in our industry standard facilities.

Whether you’re an adult, an apprentice, or are a school-leaver, aged around 16, this diploma course will help you follow your dream to become a full-time engineer. A variety of job opportunities are open to you and these include maintenance engineer, mechanical engineer, railway engineer, welder and/or fabricator, and electrical and/or electronic engineer.

You’ll be required to complete two mandatory units – one, the understanding of engineering and environmental health and safety, and the other, a choice of one of the following: mechanical engineering technology, maintenance engineering technology, welding technology, or electrical and electronics technology.

Entry Requirements

A GNVQ (Intermediate), a BTEC First Diploma at Merit level or GCSEs grade 7-5 including maths, preferably at Higher Tier, science and English or equivalent qualifications.

What do I need to bring?

Notepad/paper, pen, pencils, calculator (mobile phone is not acceptable for this).

Assessment/Exam information

Subjects are normally continually assessed by means of a series of practical and theory assessment including open book test papers and online tests.

Other information

During the course you will receive expert tuition from well-qualified and experienced staff. Within the college, you will also have access to a range of facilities; i.e. Learning Resource Centre, IT Centre, Student Centre etc.
