School of Computer Science: Level 3 Technical Diploma Computing/Computer Science

The School of Computer Science 2 year study programme focuses on developing skills in IT and Computing, and includes Securities, Coding, Networking, Hardware, Web Design, Business, E-commerce and much more. You will have timetabled sessions English, maths, Work experience and Enrichment as part of your programme.

Entry Requirements

A relevant lower level qualification and a positive reference from your tutor/school and/or a minimum of 4 GCSEs to include English and Maths, where possible. Other suitable qualifications and/or experience will be considered.

What do I need to bring?

USB drive (16GB min) file, notepad and pen.

Assessment/Exam information

Units will be assessed using a variety of assessment methods including written reports, role plays within business contexts, presentations using modern technologies (e.g. Online portfolios, digital video, Power Point, Prezi amd visual displays.

Other information

The Level 3 90 Credit Diploma will form the vocational element of a full-time programme of study. The other compulsory elements include GCSE English and mathematics or appropriate functional skill; work experience; community volunteering; On-line Careers & Employability Unit; cross college enrichment activities and weekly tutorials.

What can I do next?

Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT at Swindon College. Students finishing this course are welcomed in the local area as trainee or junior Programmers, Analysts, Network Engineers, IT Apprentices, PC Technicians and Helpdesk Operators. A high percentage of our students also progress to higher education, studying Degrees, Foundation Degrees or Higher National Diplomas (HND) in relevant subjects. A number of local companies also sponsor employees on these higher level courses.

Free for 16-18 and other funding categories - subject to status.. Students aged 19+ will normally require an advanced learning loan. There is an additional trips and equipment fee of £100.00 which is payable after enrolment.
