Level 3 - Motor Vehicle Apprenticeship

Simon-Howard-2-landscape.jpg

Simon is studying a Level 3 Motor Vehicle Apprenticeship programme at Swindon College.

Before coming to Swindon College, Simon was working for ASDA. He then completed a full time Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Diploma at Swindon College, before progressing on to a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship.

Simon chose an apprenticeship because he thought it was the best way to get experience within the industry. As a Level 3 apprentice, Simon carries out the full range of garage services from routine maintenance and basic repairs through to complex fault diagnostics and complex repairs. In the future, he wants to be fully qualified, gain more experience, and then possibly set up his own business.

He said,

The apprenticeship route has given me real hands-on experience on the job, college training, and I get paid while doing it. The best things about the apprenticeship are learning a trade in a real workplace and workshop and working with experienced people on a variety of interesting vehicles. I also like getting lots of practical training, and I am supported by a good employer.
