Kim Cotton

Level 2 - Mechanics Apprenticeship

automotive course

Ever since Kim Cotton started her final year of secondary school, she has wanted to be a mechanic as she found cars really interesting and wanted to learn all about them.

When she was younger, she asked to watch her dad work on his car’s wheels.

After he worked on one of the tyres, Kim then worked on the others. Kim then started looking into making her passion a job choice and realised that Swindon College is the only place locally that offered the course she wanted to do.

After completing the first year of her studies, Kim is now very happy to be working at Paister Autos as an apprentice as well as doing her college course.

Kim is hoping to do Level 3 of her course in the future.

My course lecturer provided me with a garage contact for me to work at and it’s turned out to be great and I want to stay here. It’s easy to get to Swindon College on my bus and the facilities are great for my course.
