Books at the LRC

The Learning & Development Centre exists to support learners and lecturers in delivering outstanding teaching and learning by providing a good quality library and information service. 

The LDC is happy to consider gifts or donations which will enhance the library collection. Whilst we appreciate the generosity of individuals who wish to donate to our collection, experience has taught us that it is necessary to establish guidelines to ensure the collection is relevant to the information needs of the college and that the collection maintains the highest standards. We reserve the right to accept, reject or otherwise dispose of materials as we feel appropriate.

Before contacting the LDC regarding potential donations, please check the criteria below:

We will accept:

  • Vocational textbooks (no older than 3 years from current year)
  • ‘A’ level/university level textbooks (no older than 3 years from current year)
  • Entry – Level 4 textbooks (no older than 3 years from current year)
  • Fiction (children and adult)
  • Non-Fiction (children and adult)

We cannot accept:

  • Items in poor physical condition – i.e. staining, books with written notes or highlighting of text etc.
  • Journals
  • Encyclopaedias

If the items you wish to donate do meet these criteria, please compile a list of titles, including author, title, edition and date and email it to the
