Talented construction trainees from across the South West gathered at South Devon College recently to compete in the South West Regional Heat of SkillBuild 2017. Apprentice Bricklayer Viktor proudly showing off his medal

Viktor Sukharyev, a second year, Level 2 Apprentice representing Swindon College, walked away with a Gold Award for Bricklaying in the senior section. Viktor whose employer is M & J Sealey of Swindon said: “I was shocked but really pleased at winning first place and I was the only one who completed the task in my section.”

Nine colleges took part in this heat and 58 competitors in total were put through their paces on the day showcasing their skills in all disciplines being watched by expert judges.

SkillBuild is a national construction competition delivered by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB). The competition tours the country looking for the best in regional talent from the construction industry. Trainees were put through their paces during the day showcasing the very best skills in all disciplines under the watchful eye of expert judges.

The 2017 SkillBuild National Final will once again be held at the NEC Birmingham, and will take place from 16-18 November 2017. Good Luck Viktor!
